![]() Don't leave a sliver of area that doesn't have access to water between pipes. Try to keep them far enough apart to minimize the overlap of the blue outlines as much as possible, but keep them overlapped just a sliver. ![]() You'll notice the blue outline as you're laying them out. The 8 part is important since zones will only happen 4 map squares away from a road, and 8 map squares is what will fill in between two roads.Īs for pipes, lay them out in parallel strips. I like to make grids that are 8 X 12 map squares. ![]() I'm not sure what you mean by 1x1 and 2x1. Once you get things going, you might want extend that freeway, and it is helpful if your city is not in the way. For example, if your start map has a freeway connection running from the west to the east, connect a regular road to the end of it (both directions) and then extend this road a ways either north or south, and start a small, inexpensive grid out of the way of that freeway connection. My advice for the very begining, look at your whole map and try to figure out a long term plan for how you want to lay out your freeways and major roads, and then start a small community that is out of the way of that plan.
